Balttour is the largest travel fair in the Baltic countries. The event is held every year to celebrate the beginning of the new tourism season and to provide entertainment for industry professionals and visitors.

During the three-day exhibition, visitors will be able to learn about new trips and places inspired by world culture, acquire travel books and enjoy the hospitality of the Latvian region.

German Romanticism, the main driving force of European culture at that time, influenced the further development of art and changed the beauty of the world. The exhibition features approximately 300 works from Latvian and Estonian art museums, which historically house a fine collection of 19th-century German and Baltic German art.

In addition to German artists, works by Baltic German, Austrian and Swiss masters were also included in the exhibition; because in all German-speaking regions there are artists of similar thought, cultural development, art school and unity. The artifacts found date from the late 1790s to the 1850s. The exhibition is surrounded by paintings and graphics supported by the author’s sculptures, albums, books and examples.

In the latest exhibition featuring the works of the famous Latvian painter Biruta Dell (1944), 12 special works created by the artist for the anniversary exhibition are exhibited.

It spends most (but not always) of its time alone, wandering around the areas of sun and shade that make up its habitat.
